The mattress is soft and plush, yet nevertheless sufficiently firm to provide some support, which is especially important for older, arthritic dogs.The bed is rectangular with raised sides. It looks very stylish, sleek and contemporary. It provides plenty of room for a small\/medium sized dog. My dog is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, weighing approximately 10-11kg, and he finds it very comfortable.The bed is highly practical in many respects. The base is covered with non-slip material, thus entailing that the bed will not slide around on a hard floor. The cover is removable and washable. However, the bed is not waterproof and is therefore not suitable for a dog who has accidents. Apart from the cover, the bed is too bulky to fit into a washing machine.In short, this is a great product for a house-trained dog who enjoys snuggling into a cosy bed.
