I was looking for a Sarangi, which is a dream i had since a while, and spent many times comparing and looking everywhere on internet. Not easy only with pictures to know about instrument quality. So i decide for going to Kaayna Sarangi, with this model, which was looking a good starting student intrument. I got very good contact and fast answer from Kaaynamusicals, they gave me all details i needed about the instrument. It was shipping by fedex, arrived in France after 7 days, very fast, package was perfect, good protection, and safe for travelling. Instrument is beyond my expectations, crafting is very very good, it look exactly as the picture. Finish is good, and polish nicely, table is straight, and shape look correct. This is my first sarangi, so difficult to say how good he is, but i can say the wood pegs are from quality wood, which make the difference with others lower quality instruments, they fit well and don’t detune too easily which is a good point. Strings are from guts (mains strings), and sympathetic from metal (I think improve of the instrument can be done with other metal strings quality (at least for the metal tarafs ones cause i do not know about guts strings quality). Beware : “If you are use to Sitar or other instruments, sympathetic tuning come reverse, you should tune up clockewise, which look classic for what i have found on tuning tutorials”, so do it slowely always, don’t broke your strings, they are fragile.. Bridges and pegs balls decorations are from true bone, and playing pad and fish from hard plastic (good one).. The carry bag is good, instrument is light so it’s perfect, for my use, does not need a fibercase. It come with extra strings and rosin, and tuning tool. About the sound, as my first Sarangi, difficult to compare, but it sound good, it’s hard to tune and spent a few hours to find chart and explanations about tuning it goodly �� An instrument which need time to handle to make it in order to sound, like a sitar i think. But sound is good, resonant, and with practice will surely give me even more Joy that he already gave me, this instrument definitely touch your heart and your soul… I do believe for what i have seen, this is one the best quality instrument for this price you will found. So you can go with close eyes !! Music is beyond the beyond…
